OPENSSH May 25 2015 RTAS: 274 MB AU VST: 276 MB develops both hardware and software for the audio industry. A number of high-end computer recording plug-ins are available under the Softube brand and the company has done development for reputable companies such as Marshall (Marshall JMD:1 Amplifier), Fender (Fender Runaway Pedal), Abbey Road Studios, Native Instruments, Ableton (Ableton Amp) and TC Electronic, as well as partnering up with Universal Audio (Amp Room for Universal Audio), Propellerheads (Rack Extensions for Propellerhead Reason), Cakewalk (Cakewalk SONAR ProChannel Modules), Presonus and Avid.
Thank you Tony for the demo. I am seriously considering these.
The plugins sound fantastic. I have been using TC VSS3 etc. P2 Explorer 64 Bit Free Download there. For some years now and imo these lexicon plugins sound equal in quality compared to TC offerings, while providing different kind of sound. I would gladly add them to my reverb collection. However, I do not feel that the lexicon plugins provide more colored sound than TC, just different flavour. Maybe many TC presets use less tail modulations but it is quite easy to get some sick modulated reverbs from tc algos too.
It was nice to see that the pcm plugins have some extra parameters when you push the edit-button, exactly the ones related to tail modulation etc. Tajima Serial Connection Between Two. The most important question in my mind right now is that if I buy these plugins, will Lexicon support their (mac) customers in the future and are the updates free or do they cost? The most important question in my mind right now is that if I buy these plugins, will Lexicon support their (mac) customers in the future and are the updates free or do they cost? Those are very good questions. What is PROBABLY different today as compared to the days of LexiVerb is Lexicon's commitment to digital reverbs (of course I can't speak for them).
Not only does this new plugin FAR ourperform LexiVerb, creating much more public interest and many more sales, but the company itself can begin to shift their resources into software development much more so than previously. It will become a larger chunk of their income. Eventually, given enough time, their only source of income. That by no means guarantees support in five years, and it says absolutely nothing about the cost of updates, but I think it's a little more reassuring. For me anyway.
I'll be running with four copies, so I hope I'm not horribly wrong. It would be an expensive mistake. OK, been working on mixes today with the demo. This thing sounds every bit as liquid as the real hardware to me. I've been using Altiverb with sometimes great results, sometimes not so great, and I've experienced that which others have mentioned.the reverb not cutting through in the track or becoming murky, etc. Even with EQ on the returns or within Altiverb.
The Lex Native plug does NOT do that. It is crystal clear and you can really hear it in your mix. I had to keep backing the return down because I was used to having it higher with Altiverb (and others).
A little goes a long way. Of course, when you WANT that drenched in reverb sound, say on a big ballad, with strings, and predelayed snares and all that stuff, this thing is just rockin'. Puts a huge smile on your face. Easily the best plug in reverb I've used. I have much to explore as I've only worked with some halls and some small stuff plates today, but so far, wow. Thanks to Tony for getting me the demo.
Outstanding product. It will become a larger chunk of their income. Eventually, given enough time, their only source of income.I'm not sure about that. Don't forget that DOD, Digitech, Lexicon, and a bunch of other companies are under the Harman banner. I know that some of the Digitech stomp pedals have Lexicon algorithms in them. I doubt that the algorithms are very close to the PCM algorithms - probably much closer to the Lexiverb / LXP algorithms.
Still, it shows that Harman can choose to put the Lexicon IP in whatever makes sense at the time.
