Korean Hamer Guitar Serial Numbers

My '03 Fernandes Ravelle is MIC. Excellent build quality. I've gotten positive comments from people many times on it. Even my guitar tech was impressed and gave it some big Kudos.

I now know that Hamer built its reputation on top-quality USA-made guitars, but they have also expanded to have guitars built in Korea, and even China now. He's a Hamer USA connoisseur. So, to me that's saying a lot. Fernandes did switch from MIC to MIK(Samick) for about a year in '04 to '05. Many people were not pleased.

The difference in build was quite noticeable. From fit and finish, to hardware, to routing, neck feel, Nut material, maple necks instead of mahogany, etc. Fernandes listened, and switched back to MIC in late '05. MIC Fernandes serials start with FG. MIK start with FSG. My Ravelle's going nowhere.
